Well done to all of our swimmers who attended the ghoul in the pool open. I hear everyone swam brilliantly and lots of medals and trophies were brought home by the Burton Squad.
The committee has made the decision that all over 18s who are poolside for whatever reason, chaperones, timekeepers, coaches etc MUST be DBS checked starting immediately. I have spoken to Rob regarding timekeepers and Steve regarding chaperones. I understand club champs are coming up and we can complete checks within a week, therefore we are asking EVERYONE poolside to ensure there checks are up to date. I’m sure you will agree that for our swimmers safety this is of upmost importance. If you help out poolside you must complete the relevant checks and become a member of the ASA in January. Please come and have a chat if you are unsure what this entails.
It is brilliant to see so many of our swimmers now entering open competitions. Please ccna I ask all who ebnter opens that you ensure your registration with the asa is correct. If you are entering open meets you should be CAT 2 normal club swimmers including team galas are CAT 1 and ANY adult involved in the club should be CAT 3. Renewal is due in January and as yet we are not sure of the cost of next years renewals.
Please could swimmers be ready to complete warm ups before their session in the pool. Swimmers have been given warm up exercises and should complete them with their coach
The forms and qualifying times are now available on the website I believe. if you are interested in your swimmer entering they must have a qualifying time. Please speak to your coaches for more information.
Our coaches are trying very hard to maximise our training sessions. please try and attend as many sessions that you are able to as programmes are being written ready for the build up to county championships. Ian and Simon are asking if you are serious about taking part in the counties to train smart in sessions.
Please ensure that if you are swimming for Burton that you have the correct kit. It is not adults on poolside job to lend out swim hats. It is part of the Burton kit, you don’t loan a football shirt! Please make sure that your swimmer has the correct kit.
Any Christmas presents must be ordered ASAp to ensure delivery in time for the big day.
We are having a star foundation collection on Wednesday 12th November. please send in your unwanted recyclables in named bags. The swimmer with most recyclables will have money towards their fees donatd.
I’m sure you will agree we have a brilliant coaching team who work tirelessly to help your swimmers. We all want our swimmers to achieve and our coaches are paramount to this journey. All our coaches are very approachable and I would ask you to speak with them before looking to outside help in improving your swimmers talents. As we all heard, the message from Fred was clear, swimmers develop at different rates and our coaches are working with people from team GB to write the best sets that can be delivered, for the rang, age and ability of our swimmers please think about talking to them about how they are developing your swimmers.
